Courtroom trials involving the determination of auto-accident liability increasingly rely on sophisticated video reconstruction. These reconstructions are frequently produced using 3D computer graphics. The state of the art as of early 2004 is quite advanced. This video is a compilation of several recent clips provided by my firm, SIX FRIENDS FORENSICS, using the very latest in ingeniously-implemented physical simulation to convey, to a jury, what a drunk idiot did and how fast he or she did that thing. The animation here was created with proprietary software running on a networked stack of WILSON-FISK supercomputers in a sealed render-room, nitrogen-cooled to a temperature of one hundred and fifty seven degrees below zero, Farenheit.

This movie was provided as an MPEG1 and as a Windows Media 9 file. The other files were generated automatically by uncaring machines, so some of them are messed up. The MP4 files have sound that plays twice as fast as the picture, so you should avoid those.

A good technology demonstrator.
I nice little technical demonstrator though it isn't really up to todays 3D graphics standards. I am now curious as to the accident demonstrations that are show in the courtroom.

Cute
As the previous reviewer noted, the physics are not of this world. Enjoyable, but short and without any kind of story. Basically, just a demonstration of great rendering (reflections, shadows, etc.).

One you can watch again and again
The description above doesn't prepare you for what's really in this film.
Frank Panucci has created a magical computer landscape of cars that don't quite obey all the laws of physics, but nevertheless look really cool when the crash into each other. Add a fun score, some cartoonish over-the-top sound effects, and some wonderfully ridiculous crashes, including one of a car getting thrown off a seesaw, and this film is pure fun.
I could've watched this for at least five more minutes. So when the end comes, I was left wanting a lot more. The only solution was to watch it again. And again. You'll want to, too.
